After getting the results of the school counselors observance of our little girl regarding her ability to concentrate, i was feeling a bit discouraged. The result was that she pays attention 53% off the time while, on average, the rest of the class is paying attention 88% of the time. This is determined by the counselor watching to see if she is listening or fiddling with an eraser or daydreaming or any other actions that show she isn't paying attention. The counselor simply said this is only an analysis and doesn't mean she has ADHD. With the percentage of 53 I can't ignore the fact that she will struggle in school with this type of problem.
So what to do now. I have found information all over the place about how to handle this. I have tried using games that will help her concentrate like Memory or Problem Solving games but unable to get her to tune in for very long. Though when tuned in, she beats me every time.
I have heard diet can have a big effect and so can sleep. We are going to try and work on these things and see what happens.
I would love to hear what you have to say on this. This is new territory for us and we really don't know where to go from here. Hope you all have a great day!!!!
